A few months ago, while my Mom was visiting for my birthday, we stopped into Powell's to look for an appropriate gift. I chose Reborn: Journals and Notebooks 1947-1963 because I was intrigued by it's use of journal excerpts as biography. Fascinating for me is Sontag's "to do" list of authors, her daily writing and reading regimen, etc. (The image is from a New York review of the book. Look into it!)
